Lorde’s Gothic Rise

The Kiwi songstress scooped up the Best International Solo Female award edging out Kate Perry, Lady Gaga and Pink shaping up to a hell of a year with two Grammy’s as well. Perhaps one of the best songs of 2013, Lorde’s “Royals” got a new breath of life at the BRIT awards.

Dressed in a smashing black sequined gown sporting black lips the singer did a mash up of her hit “Royal” with electro act Disclosure. The gothic babe grooved to the reeling synthesizers and rhythmic cymbals against a giant backdrop of her face streaked with lights, but in true Lorde style we found it err… just a tad eerie. But her creepy dance moves and unique haunting voice weave a spell on us that comes calling and yes we make no bid to mask our Lorde’s devotion. Ultimately, what we get of the ubiquitous “Royals” is its makeover into an upbeat version in an electronic carnival now available on iTunes.

We’ll keep an eye and ear out to keep track of this vampish beauty who came from literally nowhere to keep us in a tizzy with her creative, fresh, enticing ways. Now to see if Lorde can make it work for her, further on.
